150 Flamethrowers were issued to the assault divisions over the usual issued of 24. US First Army were able to starts schools to training their divisions in use of Flamethrowers while Patton's Third Army with a lack of flamethrowers were not able to train on them. The efforts of the First Army was wasted since German defensive positions at the beaches usually were not suitable flame thrower targets. After moving inland there were some targets in the cities and towns.
