Desert Rats is a British Infantry unit added in Back to Hell.

Desert Rats are groups of small Veterans of the North African campaign. They are prepared for every combat situation as they have 400m range and 100m range weapons but they are more a Jack of all Trades than superb in a special role. They are better than the average units for each situation but loose against good close combat squads or good long range ones if they stuck against them in it.
Thompson SMGs served as the standard SMG of the North African campaign before being replaced by the Sten.

They are the cheapest infantry you can get with the 7th Armored, so they will be your workhorse to capture territory, be carefull though as they die quite fast with just 6 man. To prevent them from doing so use your smokes as much as possible.
