M2A1 Howitzer now designated M101A1 howitzer was the standard howitzer of the American Infantry Division. Each Infantry Division's Artillery Regiment would have three Field Artillery battalions of 12 105mm Howitzer and 12th Field Artillery Artillery Battalion equipped with 12 155mm Howitzer.
2nd Infantry had 15th, 37th and 38th Field Artillery Battalions providing artillery support to the infantry regiments.
