Firefly Harris is a British ace Tank unit.

Overview[ | ]

Main article: Sherman Firefly (UK)

This tank ace is Sgt. Wilfred Spit Harris of the 4th/7th Dragoon Guards. During Operation Perch, on June 14, 1944, Harris' Firefly and three standard Shermans was responsible for knocking out five Panthers in the village of village of Lingèvres, near Tilly-sur-Seulles. Ambushing the German tanks from concealment, Harris' actions demonstrated the tremendous firepower of a Firefly and its 17-pounder.

Strategy[ | ]

The Firefly gives the British divisions much-needed firepower in phase C. Whereas the 17-pdr field gun fulfills a more defensive role, the Sherman Firefly gives the player much more mobility and the ability to actively react. It provides a huge firepower upgrade over the 75mm-armed Sherman, but otherwise it's as armoured as a normal Sherman. Still, it is a much-needed addition to Allied divisions in the late game.

While the 11 frontal armour gives it much more survivability than the Achilles, it is still not enough to withstand prolonged return fire from the more potent German tanks. However, German tanks themselves are now at risk of being blown up. The Firefly possess a reasonably accurate gun with a considerable reload time, but come in packs of two unexperienced units or one pack of a one-star unit. Players should only engage with Fireflies if they are confident that they will emerge victorious out of the conflict.
